Motion Preservation Treatment
Dr. Khurana offers several treatment options for patients suffering from chronic back pain and problems with movement, depending on the source of the pain and severity of the symptoms.
Degenerative Disc Disease Treatment
As people age, the discs in the spine become subject to the effects of normal wear and tear (similar to the joints) that can make them become rigid and prone to injury which can cause pain and problems with movement. When one or more discs degenerate to the point where they can no longer properly support the surrounding vertebrae, and if conservative treatments are no longer adequate, Dr. Khurana may opt to perform a spinal fusion surgery, or to replace the disc with an artificial implant.
Artificial Disc Replacement
If Dr. Khurana determines that the best treatment option for a patient suffering from chronic back pain and problems with movement as a result of an injured or degenerated spinal disc, the old disc can be replaced with a bone graft and implant to help restore balance and equilibrium to the spine.
Spinal Stenosis Treatment
Spinal stenosis causes narrowing of the spinal column in either the lumbar (lower) or cervical (neck) portion of the spine. If conservative treatments prove insufficient, Dr. Khurana may opt to perform a spinal fusion or decompression surgery procedure to alleviate the pain and discomfort.
