Microscopic Vertebrae Procedure

Microscopic spine surgery is the next generation in treatment options for people of all ages suffering from both common and more complicated back pain and spine injuries. Minimally invasive microscopic vertebrae procedures allow patients to receive innovative treatment for conditions, like scoliosis and degenerative disc disease, with less side effects and shorter recovery times than typically associated with traditional open back surgery. Modern, state-of-the-art microscopic back surgery also offers greater precision and control in isolating and successfully treating the delicate areas of the human spine.

Award-winning, board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon Dr. Sanjay Khurana is at the forefront of minimally invasive spine surgery in Los Angeles and across the country. Treating both adult and pediatric patients, Dr. Khurana and his team at the Los Angeles Spine Group have helped thousands of patients recover from back issues that can lead to chronic pain, problems with mobility and physical activity, and infringe upon overall quality of life.

Microsurgical Discectomy (Microdiscectomy)

When a spinal nerve is compressed, as with cases of disc herniation, Dr. Khurana can perform a Microsurgical Discectomy to help relieve the pressure and allow the nerve room to heal. Microdiscectomy is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure where patients are typically sent home the same day of the surgery. In rare cases where an overnight hospital stay is required, microdiscectomy patients are still encouraged to walk around and begin movement shortly after the procedure has been completed and the patient has recovered from the effects of anesthesia.

Microsurgical Decompression (Lumbar Laminectomy)

Lumbar laminectomy is also a minimally invasive, microscopic spine surgery procedure most commonly used to treat spinal stenosis. If conservative methods prove unsuccessful in treating chronic pain and mobility problems, a lumbar laminectomy may offer relief.
